1. The APEDA, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is organizing the 2nd Reverse Buyers Sellers Meet for promotion of Exports of Mango and Mango Products from India on 15th & 16th May 2018 at Mumbai. The event is being executed by PHDCCI (PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

2. India's diverse climate ensures availability of a variety of fruits & vegetables. It ranks second in fruits and vegetables production in the world and is the world's largest producer of many fruits such as mangoes, bananas, papaya, and guavas. Nearly a 1000 varieties of the King of Fruits - Mangoes are grown in India. With a production of 18.6 Mln MT, India contributes 40.48% of the total world production of mango.

3. It is highly encouraging for us to note and share that there is increasing acceptance of horticulture produce and exports from the country. In 2016-17, India exported fresh fruits and vegetables worth USD 1.6 Bn and processed fruits and vegetables worth USD 1.1 Bn to over 40 countries. Total export of mangoes and mango pulp from India was 59.22 thousand tons, and 1, 35,621.22 MT valuing USD 66.94 Million and USD 129.29 Million respectively during 2016-17.

4. This has been possible on account of concurrent developments in the areas of cold chain infrastructure and pack houses with state-of-the-art technology and quality assurance measures such as Hot water and vapor heat treatment and irradiation; setting up of centers for Perishable Cargo, integrated post-harvest handling facilities, Capacity building initiatives at the farm level and with processors and exporters has also contributed towards export development. Unique product identification system, compliant to the traceability, networking and Residue Monitoring Plan has been developed for the consumer safety and readiness to product recall in case of any emergency.

5. In view of the advantage that India has in horticulture production, and to leverage the same, and encouraged by the success of the 1st RBSM held in June last year, the 2nd RBSM is being organized on15-16 May at Mumbai, INDIA.
