Return Recalibration Programme (return to home country voluntarily) and Labour Recalibration Programme (re-hiring programme) by Malaysian Immigration Department

For the benefit of the undocumented foreign workers, including Indian nationals, currently in Malaysia, the Malaysian Immigration Department has recently announced a scheme whereby all undocumented foreign workers can leave the country voluntarily with payment of a fine ranging from RM 300 to RM 500/- provided they arrived in Malaysia prior to 31 December 2020. As a special case, those foreigners who entered Malaysia after 1 January 2020 will continue to be allowed to leave Malaysia without payment of any fine etc. This scheme is being directly monitored by the Malaysian Immigration Department. The concerned worker needs to visit the Malaysian Immigration website and apply for appointment (www.sto.imi.gov.my ) to complete the necessary formalities. On the day of appointment, the worker should visit the Immigration office with a confirmed air ticket to home country and pay the fine directly. For more information, please visit the Immigration Department website at https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/myimms/pendaftaran?termConditionRP.

2.       The Government of Malaysia has further announced a scheme for re-hiring of undocumented foreigners in manufacturing, construction, agriculture and plantation sectors. The scheme is being run directly by the Malaysian Immigration and Labour Departments. The employer has to apply for hiring such foreigner workers with the Labour Department and there would be no role for any third party. For more details about the scheme, please visit https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/myimms/pendaftaran?termConditionRTK.

3.      The online appointment can be applied at Malaysian Immigration website www.sto.imi.gov.my .

4.       All Indian citizens in Malaysia who have overstayed and are willing to return to India are advised to take advantage of this programme. They should not fall victim to any fraud by unscrupulous agents who claim that they can help with payment of immigration fine or re-hiring in any company, since both these programmes are being directly managed by the Malaysian Immigration Department and that there is no third party involved in the process.
