The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Limited (RIICO), an undertaking of the Government of Rajasthan, are the apex industrial development agency of Rajasthan. RIICO provides industrial infrastructure, term loan assistance and support services for setting up of projects in Rajasthan. RIICO has developed 362 industrial areas across Rajasthan, with many more under different stages of development. The country has set an ambitious target to achieve a capacity of 175 GW worth of renewable energy by the end of 2022, which expands to 450 GW by 2030.

Rajasthan has been at forefront of renewable energy generation; with 9812 MW, out of total 22,268 MW installed power capacity, being through Renewable Sources. Solar Energy Installed Capacity of Rajasthan is 4997 MW. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gehlot recently mentioned that State will meet the target of 30000 MW solar energy and 7500 MW wind and hybrid power generation by 2024-25.

Rajasthan is a major player in mining of silica and quartz, the key raw materials for manufacture of solar cells and solar panels. Rajasthan is also a leading manufacturer of glass, electronic components, engineering products as well as other equipment/components for the renewable energy sector.

Rajasthan presents a very high potential for venturing into manufacturing of equipment/components related to renewable energy generation, particularly in view that Rajasthan’s vast potential for renewable energy generation creates huge captive market for consumption of such equipment/components in Rajasthan itself. Solar Equipments Sector and Wind Turbine Manufacturing Sector have been identified as ‘Thrust Sector’ in the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2019 with a progressive incentive structure. Also, RIICO has ready availability of land in its industrial areas across the State, including around potential locations for renewable energy generation.

To further complement the policy initiatives and drive the discourse around the subject, RIICO and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the support of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd. are organizing a webinar titled “Rajasthan - Destination Renewable Energy Equipment Manufacturing" on Tuesday, 27^th April, 2021 from 3:30 PM IST. The duration of the webinar will be about 90 minutes. The webinar will be addressed by Govt. of Rajasthan officials and industry leaders to disseminate information on the potential, policy framework and other related issues for venturing into manufacturing of equipment/components related to renewable energy generation, in the State.
