1. The 2nd edition of the Global Timber Conference (GTC 2017) is scheduled from 15th – 17th, May, 2017 at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. Organised by Confexhub with the strong support from Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), the GTC 2017 is expected to attract over 400 delegates from 25 countries comprising industry practitioners, government officials and regulators of the timber and timber-products industry. 

2. Timber; flexible, structurally strong and being the lowest embodied carbon of any commercially available commodity; contributes $600 billion to the global economy and that translates to 1% of global total GDP. According to the World Bank’s forecast, the global demand for timber will quadruple by 2050. The market foresees major changes in the regional supply of and demand for woodfibre over the next two decades which will impact both international markets and other producers around the globe.

3. More than 20 Guest Speakers from countries representing governmental bodies, private sectors and consultants will address on a range of topics; on the overarching theme ‘Innovation and Market Driven Strategies: Keys to Sustainable Growth’. The presentations will be delivered under six main sub-themes and a forum under the following areas:

  • Genotypes and Good Silvicultural Practices: The Keystone to Productivity and Profitability
  • Standards, Certifications and Eco-Labelling of Timber and Timber Product Industries: Impact and Benefits to the Asian Market
