1000 Research Fellowships offered by India to ASEAN students

In recognition of deep and historical ties with ASEAN, the Government of India is offering 1000 integrated PhD Fellowships at the internationally renowned Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), for students from ASEAN countries. The scheme was launched at the 2018 ASEAN-Indian Commemorative Summit in New Delhi. The PhD Fellowships are sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, and coordinated by the IIT Delhi.

The fellowships will offer an exciting opportunity to study a PhD at prestigious institutes. Qualification: Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Sciences / Humanities and Social Sciences / Management Studies with a good academic record. Eligibility: Applicants must have any of the following: GRE / GMAT / IELTS (6.5) / TOEFL (80) / Proof of English language proficiency such as certificate indicating medium of instruction being English. The maximum duration of the research fellowship is 5 years, with a Monthly Stipend of Rs. 31,000/- for the first 2 years, and Rs. 35,000/- for the next 3 years. A Research Grant of up to Rs. 170,000/- for research expenses such as travel, books, contingency, etc., will also be provided. Accommodation will be provided at the institutes, and if it is unavailable, a monthly House Rent Allowance of up to 24% of the stipend is provided.
