1. The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has institutionalised an annual conference cum exhibition on urban mobility called "Urban Mobility India (UMI)", in order to create awareness about the importance of urban Mobility and to disseminate up-to-date information. This year’s UMI with theme of "Planning Mobility for City’s Sustainability" will be held between 8th – 11th November, 2016 at the Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar in Gujarat, India.

2. The event has substantially grown since its first edition in the year 2008. The 8th edition held between 24th - 27th November, 2015 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi was attended by around 1,200 delegates and 24 exhibitors that included delegates / exhibitors from 25 countries. The Conference covered panel discussions, technical sessions and round table discussion on various issues. The emphasis is on presentation and discussions around the case studies. Almost equal number of papers are presented by local and foreign experts. The exhibition of latest technologies, softwares and public transport modes is a big attraction.
