  • Training and capacity building courses in institutions in India, for government officials and professionals from Malaysia.
  • 40 ITEC slots offered per year to Malaysia
  • Age of applicants: between 25 to 45 years.
  • Funding: ITEC Programme is fully funded by the Government of India; this includes airfare, hostel, tuition fees, emergency medical, gratis visa and a daily allowance.

2. AYUSH Scholarship Scheme
  • 20 scholarships for Malaysians to study Bachelor courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, in institituions in India.
  • In addition, 25 scholarships for foreigner nationals to study UG, PG, & PhD courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, in institituions in India.
  • Age of applicants: must be over 18 years.
  • Administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

3. Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship Scheme (GSS)
  • Admission for Foreign Nationals /PIOs /NRIs /OCIs to UG/PG courses in in3 scholarships for Malaysians to study Bachelors, Masters, Research, and other general coruses i.e. yoga, etc., in institituions in India.
  • Not applicable for medical-related, fashion-related, law, and intergrated courses.
  • Age of applicants: between 18 to 30 years for UG & PG courses; 18 to 45 years for PhD courses.

4. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Cultural Exchange Scholarship Scheme (EEP/CEP)
  • 2 scholarships for Malaysians to study academic courses i.e. Bachelors, Masters, Research courses, in institituions in India.
  • Not applicable for medical-related, fashion-related, law, and intergrated courses.
  • Age of applicants: between 18 to 30 years for UG & PG courses; 18 to 45 years for PhD courses.

5. Indian Scholarship & Trust Fund (ISTF)
  • A one-time financial assistance is provided to 50 to 60 meritorious students from economically weaker Malaysian families of Indian origin, pursuing Diploma /Bachelor degree courses in Malaysia.

  • Admission for Foreign Nationals /PIOs /NRIs /OCIs to UG/PG courses in institutions in India.
  • This is not a scholarship; it is a web-portal facilitating the admission process for applying to institutions of higher education in India.
  • However, universities listed on this portal may offer scholarships.

2. Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship Scheme
  • 100 scholarships for foreigners to study Indian Culture (dance, music, theatre, performing arts, sculpture, Indian languages, Indian cuisine, etc) in institutions in India.
  • Age of applicants: between 18 to 50 years.
  • Administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

3. Doctoral Fellowship in India for ASEAN countries
  • 1,000 fellowships for nationals of ASEAN countries to do PhD in IITs.
  • The funding includes a monthly stipend and an annual research grant for up to 5 years of their Ph.D. program.

4. ASEAN-India Research & Training Fellowship (AI-RTF)
  • 50 fellowships per year are awarded to young scientists and researchers from ASEAN countries to pursue research & training in Indian academic and R&D institutions, for a period of 2 to 6 months.
  • Administered under the ASEAN-India Science, Technology & Innovation Cooperation and funded by the Government of India.

5. Quad STEM Fellowship
  • Quad is an initiative of Australia, India, Japan, and the USA.
  • 100 scholarships to study in USA in STEM fields (Masters/ Doctoral degree) offered to nationals of the Quad countries and ASEAN countries (including Malaysia).
  • USA is providing a one-time stipend of USD 40,000 to each fellow.
  • Applicants should be over 18 years of age, have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a STEM field, & must have already applied to an eligible STEM graduate program at a US-based university to begin the academic year.
  • Clinical healthcare degree programs are ineligible.
  • Administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a global not-for-profit organization based in New York.

6. Quad Infrastructure Fellowships (QIF)
  • 500 fellowships provided by Govt of India under QIF between2023 to 2027 i.e. 125 fellowships per annum to the countries in the Indo-Pacific region (including Malaysia).
  • The fellowships, both short and long durations, would be offered at the India’s premier institutions including at IITs and IIMs.
  • Expenses: Excursion/ Economy class airfare, accommodation, visa, course fee and living allowance.

7. Promotion of Hindi Abroad (PHA) scheme
  • Scholarship is provided to foreign nationals for pursuing Certificate /Diploma /Advanced Diploma /PG-Diploma in Hindi at the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (KHS) i.e. Central Hindi Institute, in Agra.
  • Scholarship includes a monthly stipend and a book grant.
  • Administered by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Scholarships for Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Non Resident Indians (NRI)
1. Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC)
  • 150 scholarships for NRIs, PIOs, and Children of Indian Workers in select countries (including Malaysia) to pursue Bachelor courses in India.
  • For applying to NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and other Premier Technical Institutions (except IITs), applicants must also apply under the DASA scheme (details in Row 3).
  • Not applicable for medical-related, fashion-related, law, and intergrated courses.
  • Age of applicants: between 17 to 21 years.
  • Funding: scholarship is for 75% of Institutional Economic Cost: Tuition fee, Hostel fee & other institutional charges (Food charges are excluded).
  • Administered by Ministry of External Affairs, Goverment of India.

2. Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme
  • Admission for Foreign Nationals /PIOs /NRIs /OCIs to UG/PG courses in institutions in India.
  • This is not a scholarship; it only facilitates in the admission process for applying to NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and other Premier Technical Institutions (except IITs).

3. Know India Programme (KIP)
  • A 3-week knowledge programme designed for the Indian diaspora youth.
  • To foster a closer connection between Indian diaspora youth and their ancestral homeland by augmenting their understanding of India.
  • Age of applicants: between 21 to 35 years.
  • Candidates are provided 90% of airfare, gratis visa, boarding and lodging.
  • Administered by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
