DBT-TWAS PG & PD Biotechnology Fellowships Programme 2021-22
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Italy have established a fellowship programme for foreign scholars from developing countries who wish to pursue research towards a PhD in biotechnology. Highlights of the Post-Graduate (PG), and the Post-Doctoral (PD) Biotechnology Fellowships Programme for the academic year 2021-22 are:
2. The fellowship programme is pursuing research in the following fields:
3. The age limit for the PG and PD Fellowships programme are 35 and 45 years respectively, as on 31 December of the application year. The host country is India, and the applicants must be nationals of a developing country (other than India). Applicants must not take up other assignments during the period of the fellowship and they must return to their home country upon completion of the fellowship. They must also be financially responsible for any accompanying family members. The applicant must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India (such as OCI card) or any developed country.
4. The PG Fellowship is up to 5 year duration, and the minimum qualification is MSc. It allows a ‘Sandwich Option’, wherein those already registered for a PhD in their home country may be granted fellowship for 1 to 2 years to pursue their research in India.
5. The PD Fellowship is up to 18 months duration, and the minimum qualification is PhD. It does not allow the ‘Sandwich Option’.
6. The TWAS, Italy covers international air travel and the DBT, India provides monthly stipend and House Rent Allowance (HRA) to the awardee to care of his/her boarding and lodging during the period of the fellowship in India.
