Applications for Nomination under Self Financing Scheme (SFS) for Foreign Students from Friendly Developing Countries for Institutions in India for MBBS / BDS / B. Engineering / B. Pharmacy / Diploma in Engineering / Diploma in Pharmacy courses for academic year 2015-16

The Government of India has invited applications from Malaysian students interested in studying courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Engineering in government academic institutions in India for the academic year 2015-16 under the ‘Nomination under Self-Financing Scheme (SFS) for Foreign Students from Friendly Developing Countries’.

Foreign students holding a ‘Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card’ / ‘Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card’, and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) i.e., Indian expatriates, are not eligible to apply.

Candidates are not required to sit for any central examination / PMT / or any other Medicine / Engineering examination in India.

Eligibility Criteria:

1) MBBS / BDS / B. Pharmacy / Diploma in Pharmacy courses:
A candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks, with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology), and 50% in English in the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10+2 standard of CBSE in India).

2) B. Engineering course:
A candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks, with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and 50% in English in the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10+2 standard of CBSE in India).

3) Diploma in Engineering course:
A candidate must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks, with at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the first attempt, and 50% in English in both the 10th and 12th-grade examinations (equivalent to 10 and 10+2 standards, respectively, of CBSE in India). The age limit should be below 21 years as of 01.08.2015.

Note:

  1. Marks obtained should be indicated in percentages and not in grades. Marks obtained in the 11th standard examination should not be considered when computing marks for the 12th standard examination. If the percentages of marks are not indicated, the application will be rejected.
  2. Students can also apply while awaiting the final declaration of their qualifying examination results, equivalent to the 10+2 standard of CBSE in India.

The ‘Nomination under SFS’ application form can be downloaded from the official website. Alternatively, the application form can be obtained from the Education Wing, High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur.

A Certificate of Equivalence must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, indicating that the candidate’s qualifying examination is equivalent to the 10+2 standard of CBSE in India.

Applicants should enclose attested copies of the following documents with their applications:

  1. Certificates and mark sheets of the final qualifying examination
  2. Passport
  3. Identity Card (IC)
  4. Birth certificate
  5. Character/conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
  6. Certificate of Equivalence from AIU, New Delhi

Provide copies of authentic English translations of the above-mentioned enclosures wherever required.

Four identical sets of the duly filled-in application should be submitted in person at the address given below, latest by 02nd April 2015:

Submission of an application is not an assurance of nomination. The selected students are required to bear all expenses on education and airfare, and they must undertake to return to Malaysia upon completion of their studies. Candidates are expected to comply with admission formalities and procedures of the respective college/universities, which may include medical examinations, including an AIDS test in India.
