His Excellency Dr. K. Rahman Khan, Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs of India is currently on a 3-day visit to Malaysia from February 3-5, 2014.
The Hon’ble Minister had been invited to deliver the Keynote Address at the Inaugural Ceremony of the 3rd International Seminar on Interfaith Harmony & Tolerance and Award Ceremony 2014, today, being organized by the International Islamic University of Malaysia and Department of National Unity and Integration, Prime Minister’s Department Malaysia, Ma’din Academy, India and OIC Today Magazine. Speaking on this occasion, His Excellency Dr. K. Rahman Khan stressed the importance of interfaith harmony and the need to resolve differences amicably within the context of a democratic polity. He stressed that fundamentals of all the religions of the world are on peace, harmony, mutual understanding, moderation, cooperation, love and happiness among the people. He later presented the award to the recipient.
Later, on 4th February, the Hon’ble Minister met His Excellency Senator Major General Dato’ Seri Jamil Khir bin Baharom (B), Minister in Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s Department of Awqaf, Zakat and Hajj. They discussed issues of mutual interest, including issues relating to Haj, operations of various foundations and endowments of the Department as well as of Waqf properties in Malaysia. He will be also meeting Tan Sri Dato' Nor Mohamed Yakcop, Deputy Chairman of Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Government of Malaysia’s Strategic Investment Fund)
Earlier, on 3rd February, His Excellency Dr. Rahman Khan met Malaysians of Indian origin from various walks of live, including from Kongress Indian Muslim Malaysia(KIMMA), and the Malaysian Malabari Association, at a dinner hosted in his honour by the High Commissioner of India.
